The railways through Leicestershire and Rutland are featured in British Railways steam days in the 1950s and 1960s when two main lines crossed the county – the Great Central and the Midland. In addition, many other lines remained open before the time of severe cut backs and closures. Industrial lines are also included with many of the photographs being published for the first time, recalling the railway scene of the last decade of steam.
