The first German aircraft to reach Russia found their way there before World War 1 and during the war some 120-150 German aircraft were captured. Between 1922 and 1924 the Soviet Russia also acquired several hundred fighters, reconnaissance aircraft and passenger aircraft produced by the Fokker firm which had moved from Germany to the Netherlands.
